of freedom. In symbolic language the Revelation underlines that Jesus, the
Christ, the King, comes galloping upon the scene to set things right. He
rides as a conqueror to take back what Satan has seized, occupied and
smudged with such tragic results and ruin.
I think it is important right here to be reminded that it is Satan who is
the author of suffering and death. It is he who is the troublemaker, not
God. It is he who has brought suffering, pain and death into this world.
It is he who enjoys bringing sadness and grieving to wives and sons and
loved ones. It is he who delights when Dad suffers and dies. Christ now
comes to turn that all around: to bring healing, eternal health, and
reunion.
Remember the vast army on white horses? They are sent out to round up all
those who wear the Master's brand.
And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they
shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven
to the other. Matthew 24:31.
Just as it seems that Satan will wipe all God's loyal and harassed
citizens off the face of the earth, Jesus mounts His white horse and comes
at full gallop to rescue them. He comes, not only to rescue, but also to
escort His faithful people to something very special. [Out of reverence I
will not say "to the "great chuck wagon in the sky" because it's a whole
lot better than that!] He escorts them to the "marriage banquet" of the
Lamb--the celebration of His inauguration as King of kings and Lord of
Lords, Ruler of His lawful domain, His eternal Kingdom of peace and justice
and love where the flame of freedom will burn no longer at risk.
This was very precious to Frank. It was one of those things that comforted
him and brought a wonderful hope: things will turn out right in the great
last roundup of history.
What of the future now that Frank is gone? One chapter has closed a new
chapter begins. Just as Frank faced death without fear, his loved ones
must also face the future without fear. Cyndee, your focus for months has
been on Frank intensely, as it rightfully should. Now that focus shifts to
these two wonderful sons, Owen and Chance. Frank and Cyndee brought into
this word two of the finest boys that walk this earth. [You would expect a
grandfather to say that, wouldn't you?] Owen and Chance, you are propelled
into a new role: the men of the family. That is a very serious
responsibility: to be the manly help to your mother--to be the kind of men
your daddy wanted you to be: dedicated to Jesus Christ and always seeking
God's will for your life. God has a plan for your life. There is nothing
more important than finding and being what God wants you to be and do.
I was even younger than you boys were when my daddy died. I was seven and
my brother ten. But one thing is certain: God comes very close to boys next page
